2016, Biochimica et Biophysica Acta - General SubjectsCitation Excerpt :The natural omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), best known for its cardioprotective and health promoting benefits, has in recent years also been shown to possess promising anticancer properties [5–8]. Epidemiological studies have implicated the intake of this omega-3 fatty acid with reduced rates of cancer development [9–11]. These findings have led many to consider DHA as a cancer preventative agent.
