Abstract

This study shows that 2,4,5-trichlorophenol (TCP) is a urinary metabolite of hexachlorobenzene (HCB). TCP could be isolated by TLC from urine of rats fed HCB. It was identified by the Rf value, uv absorbance, mp, mixed mp, ir-, nmr-, and mass spectroscopy and, as its methyl ether, synthetized by the reaction of TCP with diazomethane.
