CRC Press, 2006, pp 392, £29.99 (hardback). ISBN 084932856XThis book is a good introductory text for those interested in toxicology. Throughout, basic processes are very clearly described. The authors have set themselves the ambitious task of producing a broad-based yet in-depth introduction to this diverse topic. This is a daunting task. Chapters cover test methods, toxicokinetics, sites of action, toxigenomics, followed by various target organ toxicity, and finally three specific applications (pharmacology, forensic toxicology, environmental toxicity). This is done succinctly in around 350 pages. However the level of detail varies between chapters and, perhaps inevitably, coverage is superficial at times. … ER -
