This journal has decided to start a new regular feature called Cochrane Corner. This will help to disseminate the important work of the Cochrane Collaboration in the field of occupational safety and health. In their own words, the Collaboration is the most reliable source of evidence on the effectiveness of healthcare interventions. Put in simple terms, the Cochrane Collaboration wants to find out what works in healthcare and what does not. This applies equally to our field. We don't really know how well the many health and safety control measures perform.1 2 Even though many evaluation studies are available, we lack a proper overview of the best evidence of effectiveness.3 And if we are not well informed, rational decision making will be hampered, leading to inefficient occupational health practices and a waste of resources.
