We thank Dr Shiri for his valuable comments and analysis1 on our article2 and are pleased to have the opportunity to respond. Our meta-analysis made a timely and novel contribution to the literature about associations of shift work on diabetes risk. Although some limitations may exist in our study, they do not materially affect the internal validity of our result.
